Nice selection of photos - your spiv car is a Jaguar C-Type, almost certainly a replica judging by the number plate. They were made in limited numbers for competition in the early fifties and the number plate is mid-sixties. Originals are worth a fortune - they won Le Mans twice - and you tend not to find them left tying around in the street.

C Type Replica, registered as a 1965 car, built on a Heritage aluminum space frame chassis, with Jaguar 4.2L engine, and triple SU carburetors. Finished in Dark Royal Blue with roundels, the car also boasts competition exhaust system, electronic ignition, as well as 4 point harness, and electrical cut out switch. In very good overall condition and having only covered 3400 miles since rebuild, this car is truly stunning. Sold for £42,000

There's an original here They might take a tenner off £2m if you bring your own bunnet.

"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

From the archives, a Jaguar meet at Longleat in Wiltshire.

And another Le Mans racer - the XJ220C - someone got in it for a laugh, found he could start it, drove it away and was eventually stopped by security just as he was about to pull out onto the main road. He was quite surprised when Plod wanted a word with him.

Again I am impressed by the knowledge lurking around HG. Thanks for the information and photographs Brigit & Dexter.

The Longleat in the background photo is quite appropriate given the price tag for the car.

I spotted a cheaper alternative this afternoon in town - sporting a "scrappage scheme survivor" badge

Very nice. My old neighbour had one of these new, many many years ago. (Well, obviously - duurr!!) That was just about OK, but his next car was an Allegro! :?

Lovely wee MG spotted while driving past on Wednesday. Sorry about the framing, I'm shit at taking pictures from a moving vehicle I'm afraid.
