Wee bit of filler and some paint and it'll be roadworthy again in no time....

Good lord! I knew it was a Daimler from the grille, but as for which type, I couldn't tell you without first identifying the species of tin-worm that reduced it to such a state.

That's gorgeous, best I've seen since that concourse shoot in '93 at Beaulieu. Is it gathering dust or does it get an annual polish and run-out?

Oh dear. Perhaps we should arrange a midnight raiding party, armed with Autoglym.

seen today round the corner from my house, L-reg 'tina
Image

has two blue stripes down the length of the car, didn't have time for another pic as my bus was coming.

there's sometimes another bright yellow one (with a black vinyl roof) around the same area - it looks a bit weird though 'cos it's been fitted with huge modern alloys

2 old Wolsley cars spotted in Castle Douglas last weekend.
The owners caught me taking photos and threatened to charge for the privilege ::):

Woo! Cortina Mk III and I don't have one in my archive. Those wheel trims look decidedly Orion, 90's H-reg vintage. Pepper pots, I think they were called.

I remember being seasick in the back of one of these, a common foible shared with the Morris Marina of the time. The Marina deserved the revisited breakfast, but I had more respect for the Cortina.

I've been through the archives this morning and stumbled upon these two good lads enjoying a May afternoon in Somerset about 5 years ago, watching the world go by (the main road is just out of view to the left.) The track (properly, a drove) runs three miles to their farm in the back of beyond. They're cousins, these two, and a good laugh. They were regulars in the same pub I use to drink in.

The cars, Mk I Fiesta and Mk II Golf respectively, are what they call "field cars". They're out of MOT, but still have plenty of life in them. When you own several square miles of the Somerset Levels and ten miles of droves, you don't have to comply with the laws of the road. The boys will keep these things going 'til they die of death and then they'll sit rusting for generations.

I thoroughly approve of the luxury seating and air-conditioning bestowed upon the Fiesta. It rather puts to shame Clarkson's "Anne Hathaway Cottage Mercedes".

I haven't seen one in years either, but I certainly remember them. Make sure you get a photo, won't you? :)
