I remember a story many years back about neds knocking down a wee bit of Roman wall near Glasgow, and council workers rebuilding it again.
If they did as good a job as they did installing my toilet, then their wall workmanship probably will look like this ::):

That might have been me. But its was at a house in Bearsden. The owner who shall remain namesless owned a garage during the early 80,s. Any way biz was not to good so he asked a couple of the apprenticess to move some old bricks from his back yard. Instead of the old bricks we moved the old bolders :? Funny hearing a well spoken man swearing.

That type of dyke is known as a single boulder dyke. Known to fall down but are easy to repair. Gaps in the dyke prevent sheep from louping as they wont attempt to go over something they can see through.

Very interesting, had never seen them built this way.
There are miles of them up there all in good nick.
