The Huntarian is a great wee museum, I haven't been for a couple of years, I'll need to get up there with my camera.

Cheers

It's a good'un, yeah. Been meaning to visit the main one for a while; the zoology museum's housed in a seperate building, as I discovered when I popped in for a nosy.

"The Harpy Celaeno", by Mary Pownall

Kelvingrove Art Galleries & Museum.

From Greek Mythology .........
The Harpies were fierce, filthy, winged monsters who had characteristics of a bird and a woman, similar to that of the early Sirens. Their hideous faces of women with sharp claws mounted on the bodies of vultures inspired both horror and disgust. They could fly as fast as a bolt of lightening.

I confess to being rather disturbed by the fact that from the neck up, this sculpture looks rather like the young Gordon Brown.

The Hunterian's open again. I really like what they've done with the placeā€”the exhibits are marvellously well presented.

Also, for the opening night they had three guys cutting about dressed as William Hunter. And folk with trays of canapes. And a lot of free wine.
