Mac loved photo of the original QM2. Memories of boarding at Broomielaw and steaming down the Clyde with shipyards on either side and the cacophony of hundreds of riveters - joining steel plates.
In the 40's there were two steamers left the Broomielaw daily one at 10am and the other at 11am. The QM was one, anyone remember the name of the other?

Thanks for posting the pics Hervey it's been on the news over here the past few days 8)

The original QE2 is booked to return to the River Clyde at Greenock on Thursday 20th September 2007 so make a note in your diary folks :wink:

Was it the Jeannie Deans?

I went on primary school trip to Rothesay just a few months earlier in June 1976 on the QM which left from Anderston Quay.
It was a glorious summers morning and the sun shone all day from start to finish.

She's now berthed at Waterloo Bridge on the River Thames in London and is a sorry sight as a floating den of Iniquity :evil:

I've had many happy times sailing down the Clyde too. On a good day there's not much to beat it. But it always seems to end badly for old boats when they eventually hang up their propellers. Shame.
