Alchemist, I took a little drive up your way last night, through Bearsden to Drymen, Gartoharn and back to Paisley via Balloch and the Erskine Bridge, the road was empty, the sun had his hat off and http://www.blindboys.com/main.html were featuring on the Radio. Sometimes, life is good.

Yeah, we stayed at the Aultguish Inn, which was being redecorated at the time and was looking good.

We just climbed hills all weekend, and there is plenty of them. I'm sure you could find a good spot for wild camping, and there are a few good sites around if you like the comforts of a shower and toilet block.

A few more pics for you:

If you go just beyond Glascarnoch to the next loch up the road on your left heading for Ullapool. A cracking wee loch called Droma. Keep driving to the far end where you'll see a big parking space next to the dam wall.

Cross the dam to the wee forest on the other side and camp in there, you'll get no problems. If you do go up there you'll see a sluice on the other side once you cross the dam. Fish there - it holds some big ones (well 2lb brownies which is big for a highland loch). If you fish the fly just drop a nice bushy dry on the water and let the flow take it out. The fish all hang around here enjoying the oxygenated water and the food that the current brings.

Don't camp in too sheltered a spot to allow the wind to keep the midges down and take a midge net anyway.
