Did anybody else see this over western Glasgow today. App 2pm.
Strathclyde police are really pushing the boat out with eye in the sky.
Thank you. And why not.

I saw an unusual looking plane flying northwards over Tesco's in Shettleston about an hour ago, don't think it was this one but it had something sticking out of it like an extra tail fin

A radar thingy.
It's not a spy plane, it provides airborne early warning, and radar coverage over combat zones.

It is an E3 Sentry (Airborne Warning and Control) The RAF have seven of them.

If it had been a spy plane you wouldnt have seen it. Or seen something more Nimrod or Canberra shaped.
It was flying over Glasgow this afternoon on a training exercise. Well they would say that, wouldnt they...

I saw it at Clydebank shopping centre as it was on finals for Glasgow Airport but for some reason it aborted landing and just flew straight up again.
I waited to see if it was on a go around but never seen it coming back so don't know where it went.

Good work getting a photograph of a moving plane.
From another website;
>>
Glasgow Airport 19th Sept. 2006.
ZH105 E3 Sentry RAF overshot runway 23 at 1449 & 1502
callsign "Nato 19".
<<
If you google the serial ZH105, jetphotos come up with a rake of snaps of this machine.
Btw, the British 'spyplanes' are the Nimrod R1s of 51 Squadron in Lincolnshire.

Whats the website? I remember seeing one before that listed minor incidents at the airport, but a quick google can't find it
So go on, spill the beans,
Alan
