With a little (okay, a fair bit) of tinkering in Photoshop you can bring out the variations in colour on the lunar surface. Highlands show up as orangey-pink, whereas the maria tend towards greens, blues and purples.

Excellent site here.

The three distinctive craters in the centre left are Catherine, Cyrillus and Theophilus. Unless they're moon crop circles, which is what they look like.

With the teleconverter it's about 20x, equivalent to 734mm. It's not a proper camera, or anything, but it gets the job done.

Just remebered I had this on my old PC.
It was taken from the window of a 747 on the way to the States a couple of years ago, it was somewhere over the arctic circle so not exactly Glasgow!

Get your camera's out tomorrow night (Saturday) for an eclipse that will turn the Moon Orange,
Earth will be in the line between the Sun and the moon causing the light to pass through Earth's atmospheric dust turning the Moon Orange.

Shoud be worth a photo or 20.

Any chance of unlocking the thread so people can post photos of the eclipse, rather than just general moon photos?
