@ engineer
Did you take any photos of the John Cossar building in Govan Road?
This is where the Govan Post/Press was printed. Some nice
architecture.
Also if you get the chance have a look at the building on Govan Road
between the the Harmony Bar and The Old Govan Arms, just above
the (burnt out) Carpet Sale shop. Some nice architecture there too.

Another one! That ornamental ironwork fountain in the picture. There is an almost identical one in Dalmuir Park, though with less "spindly" columns.

Currently painted a rather lurid gold, as you can see. I know there is another structure cast in the same pattern elsewhere in the city, but I can't remember for the life of me where now. That makes three of these gorgous awnings. Until recently the Dalmiur Park one featured a large, Minervian Owl as a centerpiece under the cupola, but it got nicked, last summer I think.

Was taggart not originally filmed at old partick police station?

Your kinda correct Tobester - Taggart used the old Partick Police Office (those of a certain age may remember it as the Partick Marine) for the external scenes, whilst it was still an operational police station.

However many of the actual scenes inside the police office were filmed at Barclay Curle House on South Street. I used to work along the road from Barclay Curle House and remember the lighting trucks and mobile canteens blockickin up most of the street.

Ferry Nuff

Ken Smith revived this old story in yesterday's Diary

STOKER John McAndrew, working on the renovated River Clyde passenger ferry unveiled yesterday, reminded us of the legendary story from the boat's past about the Old Firm fan, chased by rival supporters intent on doing him harm, who spotted the little ferry 10 feet away from the dock, and, fearing for his health, made a prodigious leap to land on the boat's deck.
Cheerily standing up and making obscene gestures at his pursuers, he then heard the skipper behind him: "That's brave. We're just coming in to dock."

Excellent pictures of the Govan Ferry.

Brilliant story about that guy leaping on to the ferry, too. :)
