Volunteer here, thank you banjo. South of Stobo Castle on the B712 just afetr the road crosses the Rio Tweed neer Bells Pool there is the Dawyck Botanic Garden, worth a visit in its own right. Picture is a Royal Mail Post Box located just south of the entrance to Dawyck Botanic Garden. It is cast metal with the wordage LETTERS ONLY. I defy any one to squeeze anything larger than a Post Office Preferred envelope. Remember them? I do. The box is mounted on a Telegraph Pole which looks like it has been snapped off and not cut neatly. My guess is it was a full size pole which sustained damage of some kind. There will be other similar boxes around the country but now you know where to find one. Just for interest there boxes have a Slug Barrier inside to stop the wee devils entering the box and making a home for themselves. First Class I say.

The Rest and Be Thankful is stunning all year round.

On a drive to Southend on the Kintyre Peninsula we stopped for a “Rest”.

The pics are just what everyone sees on a clear day.

The Flower Pot is cute, someone maintains it and it looks the part.

My Late Dad spoke of the Old Rest. An amateur racing cyclist all his days. From the late 1920's onwards
He would watch cars drive so far up the Rest then overheat. The Driver would reverse backwards down to the bottom. Top Up the radiator when the engine had cooled down and then have another go at getting over the top of the Rest.

Volunteer here, Spotted on the B7029 from Cleland to Carfin.

A road side puddle was driven through repeatedly by passing cars. The resulting splash sprayed the bushes in their winter leaf free state. Overnight frost froze the drips into icicles.

The pictures were taken around midday as the sun shone through the icicles.

Quite stunning and worthy of a post.

I feel a quote from Robert Burns poem Tam O' Shanter is apt.

“But pleasures are like poppies spread,

Or like the snow falls in the river,
A moment white--then melts for ever;”

Beside the River Clyde are house overlooking the river side.

The snow came and melted but not before one resident made two Snow People. They're two different size.

Could one be a Snow Man and the other a Snow Woman.

What's the difference?

A colleague from my working days lived in the est End off Highborough Road in Clarence Drive or thereabouts in a flat.

One snowy winter a neighbour made a statute of snow in the form of the Venus De Milo.

Only in the West End of Glasgow.

Volunteer here, Tarbrax is a small village in the Parish of Carnwath, County of South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

It is at the end of a dead end road off the A70 road between Edinburgh and Carnwath.

A 1000 feet above sea level on the edge of the Pentland Hills.

The one road in also gets you out.

Shale Mining from the 1800's till the 1920's then closure of the works.

In Tarbrax has got to be the smallest Bowling Club in the world.

It has two rinks and the Club House as you see in the Pics is a shed with windows.

Note the gate opens outwards with the latch to the out side.

What a find. Groundsman must have loads of time off!

It used to have a tiny wee post office as well, which was actually robbed once. Can't think given its size they got away with much.

I noted the large wall mounted GR Royal Mail Posting Box in Crosswood Terrace near the turning circle on the east side of the village.
Guessing that would be where the Post office would have been.
Googled up and found this and tidied up the presentation.

Looks like there has been a crime wave in the area.
