When we stopped for a late lunch by the canal yesterday, a hoverfly took a liking to my cardy.

Taken in the rose garden at Queens Park. The bushes are carpeted in blooms and you can smell the fragrance at least a 100 yards away. Plenty of bumble bees in there on Wednesday evening.

The hovering bee's are stoaters Helen. I have to get my 8 legged pal to hold flies still while I take their picture.

There's a Fuchsia bush down the road and it's popular with the bumble bees. You can tell these two didn't evolve together. The bees are too fat to go up the inside of the flower so they simply go for the top of the flower and gnaw through to the nectar.

Bye bye bee...

I was over at Sainsbury's, Darnley, yesterday, sadly without the camera. There's a small Buddleia growing out of one the small traffic islands and was attracting quite a few visitors. There was a fresh-looking peacock butterfly and a number of really large bumble-bees. You wouldn't fit one down a bottleneck.

I have seen two large bumble bees wandering around this morning which I assume to be queens looking for nesting sites.

Volunteer here, spotted outside the Marriott Hotel in Argyle Street, Glasgow. No room at the Inn then make your own bed outside.

I put a wasp out the window today. I don't think I've seen one so late in the year. November, yes, but a bit earlier in the month.

A month or so ago, I had one that kept coming into the kitchen. I assume it was the same one as there were never two at the same time as you might expect from a nest nearby.

Volunteer here, Dear HelenD due to climate change Wasps are now 24/7/365. You reminded me of the man who went into a Pet Shop and asked the salesman if he could buy a Wasp. We don't sell Wasps was the reply. Well you've got three in the window said the customer. Two pics of the beach at “St Bees”. For those wondering it is in Cumbria located north of Winscale and Seascale. Maybe not a Creepie-Crawlie but a bee is bee for all that.

Volunteer here, Very nice pic Roxburgh.

Maybe not so attractive the Slug which cadged a lift one evening. I had reverse parked against some bushes one evening. Drove home and garaged up. Next day went to go out and there was the wee devil on the front wing. Must have climbed aboard at the rear and was edging forward. The slug travelled for around 25 miles. Now rehoused and making new friends.
