Volunteer here, In the Western Necropolis Glasgow there are Commonwealth War Graves located there. In particular I have noted the 11 Australian Army Graves with a Major of the Royal Army Medical Corps at the centre of the rear line. The group are located on the main road from the gate to the rear of the cemetery. On the left as the road comes out of a dip and rises.
I do not know the history of these plots but there must be story to tell.
My thoughts are the men were World War One wounded returned to Scotland for medical treatment. The units include Australian Infantry, Machine Gun Corps and Australian Artillery.
Some one had placed a single stem Poppy at each grave and I added a stick on poppy to each stone.
The Head Stone of the RAMC Major differs at the to with a check in each top corner. Looking to find out if this is to signify a female burial.
Worth a visit.
