A Sarajevo Rose - mortar marks on the pavement where one or more people died. These have been filled in with red coloured cement as a reminder.



heading towards the muslim end of town where the buildings get more Turkish.



Old Sarajevo is a beautiful city, one half Austo-Hungarian styled the other Ottoman turkish.

That brings back memories, I spent a few years in Bosnia during the mid 90's. If that mortar splash you posted is near the market area of Sarajevo I possibly have a past somewhere.

Its just at the Cathedral which is about 2 mins walk from the market. Would be good to see some past photos. Watched "Welcome to Sarajevo" too which was a bit hollywoody but tear inducing too.

If I have my bearings right you would have taken that shot roughly from the cafe in the bottom left of my shot. You can clearly see the terraced villa which is just to the left of the peak of the new bridge in your picture.

I couldn't find any of my mortar splash shots, must try harder, anyway here is a snap of Sarajevo from the south looking towards the mountains of the north, Vogoscka would have been pretty much behind them.



Once I have the full set of them converted to digit I will maybe post them to the around the world, maybe a wee Past & Present - Bosnia.
