I am the bearer of bad automotive tidings... Looks like this year's Classic Car Rally at Chatelherault (16th August as was) has been cancelled. The Morris Minors, Hillman Imps, WW2 Jeeps, McLaren SLRs,etc, have run down the curtain and are revving with the Choir Invisible. It is an ex Classic Car Rally.

Funding I believe. Personally I'd have been more than happy for the good people of South Lanarkshire to pay two or three as much council tax just to save this event.

I wonder how many of the good people of South Lanarkshire pay their own council tax and how many are on council tax benefit.

I pay the arseholes full whack too, and it looks like I will have to keep on doing so despite being given 60 days notice of redundancy last week, because there are two other adults in the house who bring in modest incomes. At least I got a healthy sum back off them last year after successfully grouching my way into a lower band, backdated to 1993!

And I got a letter from them yesterday in response to a snotty neighbour's enquiry about why my garden decking doesn't have planning permission.

I can rant for hours about Glasgow City Council, but since moving back to South Lanarkshire, I've found their attitude to the folk within their boundaries to be almost more contemptuous!

Anyways, bugger all to do with old cars, so I'll leave it there!

There's a guy passes me in the mornings in a shit-brown but well looked after Talbot Horizon, seem to recall an A-reg. No one would ever really call it a classic (although am I right in remembering the Transport Museum has one?) but it's great how seeing a car once common in your youth but almost extinct now puts a wee smile on your face!

where i used to live in larkhall there was a guy that had lots of old cars out the front of his house, couldnt tell you any of the makes  but some were in fantasic condition, others he had raped for parts.

off topic: my council tax is more than my mums and marks mum and they both live in 3 bedroom houses, we are in a one bedroom flat!

Are you claiming your 25% single occupancy reduction?

Really, rather than clog this thread up I think a 'What could I try for' thread may be worthwhile. So long as it's kept legal and stuff
