Thanks Peetabix. I took thousands of black and which photos back in the early 90's. I bought a nice Nikon film scanner a few years back and am slowly working my way through them.

The quality is a bit variable depending on which camera I used and whether I developed the film myself which always ended up in a dusty disaster.

To be honest I think I actually prefer the unsharp, graniny look.

I have done lots more which you will find if you browse through my flickr sets.

Cheers

Dave, Dex, thanks for putting me out of my misery. I should have known, really, but grandad didn't have one.

I used to meet one of those Jesus Army buses coming the other way on the Mendips often enough back in '92.

I've been grappling with Picasa this evening. I went to Gaydon Heritage Centre in Warwickshire back in '93 for the inaugural meeting of the Ferrari Club of Great Britain. There were 200+ Ferraris there that day and if you were there, you'd never forget it.

If you weren't >>

They went again the following year, but disbanded some time after that. It was fun while it lasted. We had an excellent track day at Castle Combe in torrential rain in '94. Riding shotgun in a Testarossa, ton-up, aquaplaning sideways through a Wiltshire thunderstorm is no bad way to spend an Easter bank holiday.

It's cheating a bit cos they're in a museum, but here are some old fire engines. (Please forgive the mostly close-up shots, I didn't have this thread in mind at the time...)

A very old engine:

Taken at the wee Fire Brigade museum at Lauriston, in Edinburgh. It's normally by appointment only, but has been opened specially for two weekends; next Saturday and Sunday (6th & 7th September) is the last chance, if any of you can make it. Great place so it is, highly recommended.
All the world seems in tune on a Spring afternoon, when we're poisoning pigeons in the park.

Just a thought, should we have a separate thread for photos of cars not taken in recent times in the Glasgow area? A petrolthread for petrolheads?

See this often on my way to work here in Normandy. It's not always there so obviously still in running order.
I believe it's a Renault Goelette, from the 50' or 60's I think.

I was on Islay the other week and spotted this, a few miles up the road from Ardbeg Distillery. It's a Volvo! Just the thing I suppose if you want to go for a jaunt across a peat bog, although judging by its condition I'm not sure whether it's been doing much of that lately.

It's only the tin-worm that's holding it together...

Found these two in a yard when I was out walking on Monday:

It looks to be some sort of road resurfacing equipment, though I can't figure what the burnt-out trailer unit does (or rather, did...) It looks like the sort of thing you'd hitch to a Scania tractor unit.
