Drizzle and light rain was the forecast with sunny spells and it held true. I was most ungruntled when I turned up and found no-one there... :(

Pity you didnt go the other direction to the hot rod and custom show in Irvine. I didnt head to either as I was on a club cruise to loch lomond.

If you want a really good show to go to, head for Culzean this weekend for Autoclassica. I was at the launch last year and intend heading down for the day at some point this year.

A Triumph Vitesse

An early 1950's Austin. Not sure what model [Somerset? Devonshire?]. And yes, it really is deep purple.

I love those old Rover P6s. My uncle had one. It was a '75P 3500S in paprika with a black vinyl roof. I don't remember there being a spare wheel on the boot lid, though.

A bit before my time, but I believe it's a late 40's Devonshire. Deep Purple's lead guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was raised in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, so you're there-or-thereabouts! :)

Last weekend was the culzean autoclassica show at culzean castle near Ayr. The idea is to make it like Goodwood where the show car drivers dress in the era of there cars.

There was a good mix of toff cars and run of the mill classics.

I took a wander down on Sunday and here are some pics;

Go on, Dave, this one's got me beat.

I've seen some dreadful things done to Capris, but the General Lee treatment looks good.

In lurve with the ur-Quattro, though.*drool*

Its a 50's Vauxhall cresta as far as I know (it only had Vauxhall badges on it so I may have the model wrong).

The quatro was superb, as was the MK2 escort which was doing fast run displays in the motorsport section of the show.

A great show, I will post details before next year as Im hoping to organise a display.

Jesus Army van parked in St Enoch's.

This is a bit of a cheat as I actually took the photo back in 1992 when the van would have been more contemporary.

Fifties Vauxhall Cresta

Yours is the better shot
