True or Fake.

Postby Lone Groover » Tue Oct 21, 2008 6:56 pm

I recieved a bunch of pictures by e-mail the other day.

They depict a group of (apparently) Muslim protestors in London brandishing hatefull slogans on banners.

I don't believe they are real - the words must have been faked.

How do I tell ?, anyone know anyone in the news media who could tell ? As in check if there are other photos in archives that are undoctored.

It annoys me that this shit gets spread around so easilly.

Oh, no I'm not going to post them here.

Cheers.

There were some pretty appalling banners during the protests at the Danish Embassy in London a year or so ago with some classic irony going between the different placards.

I remember seeing "islam is peaceful" next to "non believers must be beheaded"

My first impression was that they were fake. The banners all seem to be in the same hand, but it does seem they are from the Embassy protest.

So things just get more complicated eh ?

particularly if you have your name attached in a CC that circulates photos purporting to be of an Islamic protest. Expect much more and even worse.

Ah yes, these guys were protesting about the publication of cartoons in a Danish paper. Copenhagen would have seemed a more natural setting for their protest, but never mind...

Unfortunately, making such a noise only encourages others to take up the pen (rather than the sword). I was on my way back from Somerset not so long ago and stopped in Keele services to tear a sheet off a roll. There on the back of the door was a caricature of a very well-endowed teddy bear named Muhammed staring back at me.

If they'd stayed at home and ignored the mischievous Dane, I'm sure that teddy would still be tucked up in bed instead of waving his parts at hapless travellers in a Staffordshire boghouse.

I think there's usually a ringleader in these situations who hands out banners to willing participants.

Denmark, like most of the countries occupied during WWII, has, understandably, a much less tolerant attitude towards extremist nutters than we do here.
