The photo society at my uni has just started posting its calendar for this year and thought it might highlight interesting opportunities around the city for everyone to get some good shots.

Is anyone else planning on going to the Merchant City Festival? The parkour at Merchant Square looks good, as well as maybe the Caribbean carnival costume fashion show. Two Urbanologists - one guy climbing the walls of the buildings on King Street - sounds intriguing, and then there's the gymnastics acrobatics competition at the Kelvin Hall starting at the end of next week. The QE2's visiting Greenock next month, and there's an open day at the Tall Ship at the end of November.

remember November fireworks display at the Glasgow green is on the 6th of November due to a big Celtic game on the 5th.

I wondered about that! I emailed the people in charge of the "What's On" guide to check their date but they haven't got back to me yet. This page, however, has it as the 5th but it looks like the kind of page that would get left behind when dates get changed.

...and I asked the promoter about photography restrictions on the Caribbean Costumes Fashion show tonight (Friday 26th, 66-68 Osborne St) at 7.30 and the Flamenco installation (1.30, 3 and 5pm Sat & Sun, 98 Saltmarket) and both said it'd be absolutely fine.
