Glasgow Photo Clubs

Postby derekgoodman » Tue Sep 23, 2008 3:30 pm

Hiya
I thinking of joining a Glasgow area photo club to try and help develop my skills a wee bit.
Ive seen alot of them listed on the internet, but am wondering if anyone can recommend a club to me.
One that has a good cross section of members ie not all old farts and that would encourage people like me who wants to learn it all....

You're not by any chance a new student in the area, are you?

It is never too late to be a student!

I was a student a few years ago, but got fed up with academic stuff. Doing assessements etc instead of learning stuff.
Does anyone know any evening/ saturday college courses that are about learning (photo wise) and not about doing 500 word learning outcomes....

I've been looking for something local myself. Well not really local, just anywhere to be honest.

Why don't you start your own?

There's a camera club at Knightswood Community Centre, I've never been so can't say how good or otherwise it may be

With that kind of attitude......... don't bother looking for one How big is your camera? Can it fit where the sun don't shine? Camera clubs are populated by mostly older persons

loads of tutorials on the net mate, practice practice practice,i'm in the same boat most of my pictures turned out crap, grainy or out of focus, met up with a friend one night at the quay and took a few shots with him showing me different settings, they turned out very good and that was only after a couple of hours, problems i have are the different iso settings, shutter speed and being lazy and using fully automatic when i should be using the manual settings, mines is a fuji finepix 9500,would be good if the more experienced snappers on here could maybe do a wee write up regards basic settings for day/night shots regards proper iso and shutter speeds,oh and a tripod is a must
