Just received confirmation, that 8 parties have shown an interest in taking over the Renfrew/Yoker ferry from SPT, discussions are at a very early stage.

it's early days yet Autolycus - can't say much more than I already have, other than things won't be concluded for a few more weeks yet .

By not using the existing two boats which were designed to take emergency vehicles and have never sailed with anything larger than a tandem

Seems my suggestion of using a row boat isn't so far off the mark then :wink:

to the best of my knowledge the onlycar to have crossed the clyde on that ferry is the one driven by robbie coltraine in the tv show b road britain.

Not so much as crossed the Clyde, but a journey up the water to Bells Bridge and back to the slipway
