This is the winner for the contract to replace the old ferry. Looks like it could be an interesting crossing,

I'm glad to see that a solution has been found, for HMS B'ckwart & Furrit, although it doesn't look much different to the non DDA compliant Yoker Swan & Renfew Rose, except on a smaller scale - still I suppose size isn't everything.

Perhaps a new job for Ex-Councillor Purcell, "Kin ah watch yer boat mister - only a quid?"

Bikes allowed?

A quick look at the Silvers Marine site shows someone getting off one of their wee ferries with a bike, so fingers crossed.

I worked for Silvers Marine years ago and the last I heard was they had gone bust. Ironically while I was there I worked on the Govan Ferry no 10 which we converted to a restaurant that was later moored at the Stables near Kirkintilloch.

Strange innit? The new service seems to actually meet the need of the people who have been using the ferry ! ! ! !

really hope one gets preserved either at glasgow or the maritime museum at irvine. mainly because it must be one of the last boats built at Ardrossan.
