Whilst rootling around in the photie drawer, I came across a few pics of this church, which I built for the Glasgow & West of Scotland MRC in 1980, for their layout 'Kirknewton'. It's totally scratchbuilt apart from the stone-effect plastikard wall cladding - even down to the individual slates on the roof - and was very loosely modelled on Brechin Cathedral. It won the Clydeside Cup at Model Rail '80. The club still has a picture of this on their website header, I notice.
Side view
Water-damaged front view showing funeral party (well, everyone else seemed to be doing weddings!)
View from across the tracks, showing the 'ley alignment' through the stone circle and church tower....
... and the stone circle, complete with dowser at work!
I have no idea what happened to that layout or if the model is still in existence somewhere; if anyone knows of a colour picture of it I'd love to have a copy.
