I am still using the lima and mainline mark 1's and once flushglazed they look alright with the bachmann ones, mind over 20 years ago I bought 6 mainline ones from a mate for £10 and they are still in the fleet, albeit glazed, rewheeled and re lettered. admit mark 1's are a obsession with me, have over 50 of the things in 00
just for you and deltic 9, 3 coaches, the inter-city bck is new bachmann, the blue grey one is mainline but flushglazed and the western region is standard mainline
Looking for a bit of help here, does anyone have a high resolution colour photograph with Pinkston Power station Cooling Tower and Chimneys in the background. I am looking for something that can be printed off onto A3 paper and used as a backscene on my layout.
The wire has come adrift of its mounting point (indicated by the blue arrow). The other end connects to the motor assembly on the bogie at the other end of the locomotive. What does it do? I presume it's needed to complete a circuit as the locomotive won't run. Where can I get these connectors from? As you can see, it split when I tried to reconnect it.
I undid the screw, slipped the connector under the head and tightened it up. That had it running sporadically. It needed a nudge to get it going every time. I suspect a good clean will set it right. It's been sat on the shelf for at least six months and however long before that that the previous owner hadn't used it. My other Class 52 runs OK.

Looks like a fairly standard crimp connector Brigit - you can get them at Maplins or any half-decent electronic shop. The ones you're after are called female 'Lucar' crimps. They do come in different sizes mind, so best to take the old one along to make sure it's right. And you need a special crimping tool as well, although you can close them with some needle-nose pliers if you're stuck.
pretty sure you can buy those wires from hornby, or one of the spares specialists. I am assuming it is for a standard ringfield motored western, yu cant solder onto the bogie as it is cast (tried)
give me until later today/tonight, if I can find spare connectors in the spares box I might be able to fabricate a lead for you, and me being a nice chap i might post it to you for nothing
Thanks, Grahame. There's a Maplin's in EK and they have a few in stock so I'll pick some up on Tuesday when I go to the doctor's. I'll take you up on that offer, Alan, if Maplin's bits and bibs don't do the business.
