Top floor tenement window cleaning?

Postby Autolycus » Wed Nov 25, 2009 2:30 pm

Has anyone used any of the firms which offer top floor tenement window cleaning from street level -the ones with the long poles with brushes on the end?

Any of them any good?

Thanks in anticipation.

All depends on:
the pole your using
type of water
cleaning materials
sponge or cloth
and how long the window cleaners arms are

This guy Ye Wei

holds the world record for cleaning windows from a great hight

When the rope's that thin, one hopes it's not 'heavy water'.

Back to the original question - I used to live in a tenement and I once used a firm called Upper Glass Window Cleaning Services. They did a first class job but it wasn't particularly cheap in comparison with your average neighbourhood window cleaner with a shammy and a ladder. They charged £15.00 and this was about 2 years ago. They have a 70 ft high reach system apparently and claim to be able to reach most tenement windows from the outside.

I had my windows cleaned in my last flat by some of the long watery pole people. They advertised as having special water of somekind.... maybe the added fairy liquid kind :)

Can't remember what they were called, but could do with some southside, long poled, window cleaner recommendations too :)

^ might actually have been them. Though, i don't see a mention of the special water!!!

oh wait... here it is!
The secret of clean sparkling windows is a high level of water purification. It is only possible to get spot and stain free, clean windows using 99.9% pure water.

"I before E, except after C" works in most cases but there are exceptions.

The guys who do my windows use the big high reach washer too.
When I asked why the waterdrops don't mark the window, since it takes the other guy ages to catch up and clean it off, he said "the water is ionised"...I haven't googled that yet :D

If you're gonna google it you actually want to look for 'deionised'.

Thanks Dave, so what about iodine tablets for when you are up the hills and fancy a drink out the burn? I'll try and work my way back to windows asap
