As a wean I used to espout this rhyme not knowing what it meant, that was until my Faither belted me!

Bilslands Bakers Brown Bread
Who shagged Mary - young Fred
What was his balls like-pure red
Where did he do it - in bed
How do you know -I'm Fred!

ouch! yabasa

Looked out the office window this morning and saw that the Bilsland Bakery building has been vandalised. Quite annoyed about this. Apologies for the quality of the picture itself, but it doesn't deserve anything close to hi-res.

Was there not some big office development supposed to happen in that area - it was in the ET maybe a year ago or so, because I'm nearly certain that the "turret" part of the Bisland's building is a listed structure, so it may only be part of it they've applied to demolish. This recent planning application is on the cooncil website:

Reference 13/00820/DC
Alternative Reference 000060438-001
Application Received Thu 04 Apr 2013
Address Site Bounded By Anderston Quay/Warroch Street/Whitehall Street/ Hydepark Street Glasgow
Proposal Proposed development of 56,000 sqm (600,000 sqft) of Class 4 Office space with access, parking, landscaping, associated supporting uses and miscellaneous development
Status Pending - Consideration
Appeal Status Not Available
Appeal Decision Not Available

My sister seen my post on facebook I showed her the picture , she stays in Inverkip , I am in Livingston her thoughts were the same as mine , everytime we pass that area we think of our great granddad Thomas Lister (25 year service medal and pin I posted) and our Nana Janet Lister daughter of Thomas . she said it will be strange not seeing it anymore for over 30 years we have passed this Bilslands land mark . Ive got my Great granddads gold medal and his pin . memories are all you need to keep something alive , there will be many areas around Glasgow ,that people will know this feeling or connection that is no longer there . Long live Glasgow my Birth place :)
