Hi - can anyone tell me if it has been decided to demolish the Pinkston Drive tower blocks in Sighthill? And if so when? Many thanks

Last I heard they were staying up for the foreseeable future - they're popular with the inhabitants. It's the Fountainwell flats that are coming down.

Are you OK Brigit ?

There was a full 22 minutes between the original post and your reply.

Knowing your particular fondness for all things explosive I can't believe that Pingu got in with a reply first.

Please check your cafeine levels.

Has anyone heard when the remaining Fountainwell blocks will be coming down? It was originally scheduled for Jan 09 but the block overlooking Huntingdon Square still has some occupants so I would imagine it won't be for a good few months at the earliest.

Typically, it takes six months to strip a tower block for a blow-down. The tenants have a right to quiet enjoyment and I believe that's why they don't start until the last tenant is out (or it would be harassment or something like that...)

On this basis, we're looking at somewhere six months hence or beyond.

No, they will be moving them into the empty houses in Giffnock and Crookfur.

Wouldn't that mean they be better housed wherever they originally came from? They'd certainly have better neighbours.

Maybe but the neighbours in the UK would only talk about doing them harm.

Not if they thought it'd lower property prices.
