anyone got any info on the fire in this school for young ladies? I could smell the smoke in Maryhill!

Part of Great George Street is still blocked off - no cars or pedestrians. Lilybank House (university building) has been closed for safety reasons and we've been told that no parking is being allowed in Bute Gardens at the moment.

I'm saddened by this news. I spent many happy hours in Laurel Bank in the early 70s. It's where I first met the former Mrs Onyirtodd. I saw Sally Magnusson, another Laurel Bank girl from that era, reading the story on the lunchtime news.

It's a wee shame. Lovely buildings. Had always meant to sneak in for a poke about.

Impressive blaze, though by the time I got there I'd missed the best part of it.
