Maggie not looking very happy, so looks like the predictions in the last half hour of an SNP win might actually be true - which I have to say does surprise me!

Well done John Mason and all the foot soldiers. Well done Caltonboy and the folk of Glasgow East. Well done Alex Salmond (cue Onny). So there you go, Glasgow folk wouldn't vote for a chimp with a red rosette after all. You'll need to earn your votes in this city ya bunch of wide boys.

It is a huge GIRFUY for Labour and its hacks. It isn't good enough to slag off the SNP at every chance. Labour lost because they failed to deliver time and time again.

Well done Glasgow East for not lying down to years of voting labour. This needs to be translated to the Chambers to give them all a wake up call too.

Absolutly ,well done John Mason and the SNP for their victory but know lets go and prove that his campian words were not just hollow promise but his honest intension. Glasgow and Scotland have for far to long been taken for granted by Labour and this is one of the many reasons we have decided to vote SNP.
Well done to Mrs Curran for at least shaking the hand of John Masson unlike her leader who arrogantly could and conviently ignored any kind of aknowledgement when Labour lost the confidence of the Scottish people in the last election.
Thank you. And why not.

An interesting statistic of the poll is that Labour, allegedly the leading socialist party in the UK, was arguably denied victory by the two other radical socialist parties, the Scottish Socialist Party and Solidarity polled 1067 votes between them and the margin of victory was a mere 365 votes. Without these two Labour would have won by 702 (assuming that supporters of the SSP and Solidarity would have voted Labour
