As a kid I always perceived people that moaned to there council or MPs as greetin faced so and so,s . Now that I have my own home and take an interest in my area my Labour councilour now see,s me as a whinger. Now thanks to our on line politician he seems to confirm that people who are encouraged by mail drops from our coouncil through our doors as a whinger or whinging. People lets not forget MSPs and MPs are there to represent the people who democratically voted them in whether by 1 vote or by 100 votes they are employed to work for and with the comunity they represent. As a voter I and every other person is entitled to whinge and moan until we are satisfied that our voted represenative is doing the job they promised to do. As far as I can see very few of these people who are voted in are now genuinly interested and only seem to do what the party line dictates to them.
Thank you. And why not.

Almost true Hazy, but not quite.

MPs are given a mandate by their consituency to present its views in Parliament. They are not, however, under any obligation to reflect the individual or collective views, opinions, or wishes of the electorate. Practically, of course, MPs have to be sympathetic to issues raised by their constituents otherwise they face being turfed out at the next election and I'm sure many are genuinely keen to help or have a desire to resolve the issues brought to them.

Nevertheless, it is a fact that MPs have pretty much carte blanche to do/not do as they see fit with regard to their constituents from one election to the next. One might suppose that the temptation to do as such would be greatest in the kind of constituency where a sitting MP was pretty much guaranteed to be re-elected irrespective of his personal performance.

The kind of constituency like, oh I don't know... Glasgow East perhaps??
There is no opinion, however absurd, which men will not readily embrace as soon as they can be brought to the conviction that it is generally adopted.

I just hope that the winner does not do all the gloating crap and actually does something constructive for the East End. My wife comes from the East End and has taken a wee interest in the events over the past few weeks and is genuinly concerd for her family and friends that still live there. Talking to her family has proved to me that the vast majority of people are absolutly sickend by politics and all there false promises.
Thank you. And why not.
