Goodbye, Hidden Glasgow ! I've really enjoyed my year of involvement with you, but listening to some of the people above has just made me realise that only a few of the friendly people of the Glasgow I left in late 1960 still exist.

The back end on these concertina buses is draughty as well as boneshakingly uncomfortable. Have you ever felt the wind on a cold day as it comes whistling in beneath the centre door? They're nearly as bad as Dickson's buses, although at least you don't have to clamber all over people's backs to get off when it's busy. Actually, I've often wondered why bendy buses are used exclusively on the no. 9 service. Is there something about the route that makes it necessary? I've very occasionally seen standard single deckers or double deckers being used on the no. 9 service but I've never seen concertina buses being used on any other route.

Incidentally, FirstBus are introducing a considerable number of service and timetable changes within the next few days but I've searched in vain for any details on their website. I want to know because the services I use most of all (56 and 59) are affected apparently.

Thanks - but I already checked these timetables and they show a validity up to the 9th of May and I got the same for the ones that came up when I clicked on Forthcoming Timetables. The changes are taking place from the 10th of May onwards.

Cheeky ref bordering on stoutism there Joseph ::):

My theory on why they use the benders on that route is because there are so many holes in the road they can fly over to smash my spine.

If I can't get a seat near the front half i wait for a later bus.

Hopefully now we have all the submarine fleet they will offer an alternate river based service.

A lot of the drivers hate them as well, except when they break down, which happens rather often.

Am I missing something here? I get the number 9 every working day, and it's by far the most comfortable bus in its price range on that route (the Arriva being 50% more expensive to go a slightly shorter distance).

Try the Dixons 38 boneshaker, for example.

I always sit up the back though - is this a front-of-the-bus thing?

Wheels fell off bus in busy street

A BUS company has been ordered to cut its passenger services after two back wheels fell off one of its vehicles in a busy street.
And Clydebank-based Avondale Coaches was told it came close to having its operator's licence revoked following the incident.
Scotland's Transport Commissioner Joan Aitken said it was "with hesitation" that she allowed the company to remain operating.

That company runs buses that you'd think twice about putting into a demolition derby.

Absolute shockers most of them.

He shut it down for job fears as what with the forum, blog, book and radio shows, there was thr risk at being found out and sacked by savelli.

Shame as i have the book and read the blogs...well funny shows what a seedy horrible wee town we are when it comes to public transport users.
