I've had a fox cutting through my back garden in recent years, seems they have become a part of the culture around the City, they seem to be on the increase around the city i seen one trotting down union st the early hours of the morning the other day. i would have tried to take a pic other than i was driving at the time.

Anyone any experience of foxes around their area ?

I see that GCC have it on their website.


Foxes

Foxes have inhabited the City of Glasgow for at least fifty years, although there have been anecdotal suggestions that they became commoner and spread into the city centre during the 1960s and 1970s. They are now seen frequently in suburban gardens, parks, cemeteries and other open spaces throughout the city.

I hate 'em About 18 months ago I had to vault over our neighbour's hedge and fight to get our family pet rabbit back off the jaws of one of the local foxes. Unfortunately the poor wee thing (the rabbit I mean) was well dead from shock .

One of the other neighbours did all the unsympathetic "it's just nature" crap. He abruptly changed his mind a few months later after a fox had wandered into his kitchen and left it's unmistakable presence felt... he ended up having to pay to bring in specialist clean-up people after a week of fruitless efforts to eradicate the rank stink

What I do find odd is that despite their urban numbers growing for almost 3 decades, I never come across a fox carcass or known anyone who has. Do they all just slink away and die in their underground dens?

And the last thing you do is feed them or your kitchen may receive a visit. There is enough food available for any fox in Glasgow without punters feeding them , pigeons and or seagulls.

And remember the food you leave out will also encourage rats.

Aye, there'll be sod all left for St Kildans to eat.

Most foxes it seems go to the edge of roads to die, that's certainly where their carcasses are littered

I've seen a few flattend on the M8 in my time.

Going to and from work ive noticed a lot more than i ever had (due to early starts and laaate finishes)

Was at hyndland station a few fridays ago waiting on the last helensburgh to head to dalmuir to finish and i could hear foxes howling, one then came up from where the old bench is, crossed the line onto the platform looked up and down it then went back to where it came from, just wondering if there is a nest (or whatever its called ) in the bushes at the bottom of one of the gardens.

I was in the Southern General for a while last summer, the only entertainment we had was watching the family of four foxes playing outside the ward window.
