Yes, he was (breifly) the Bluebells manager. For more nonsense about the Lanarkshire scene (such as it ever had a scene) around the late 70s early 80s see the rock n roll forum.

I went to an engagement in the Ultrateque. Wasn't Henry Africa's on the same street?

Now, am I imagining it or isn't King Tuts where the Saints and Sinners was?

Also, Coconut Grove anyone?

The Coconut Grove!!! I was at 18th and 21sts there. Was it Manhattan next to it? What has happened to the site of these pubs? Is there anything there now?
Not forgetting Maxwell Plums nearby.

Probably, but given that he's a lawyer with Ross, Harper these days you can probably phone him up and ask. At two hundred quid an hour.

No longer, it would seem.

"ONE of Scotland’s best-known law firms – Ross Harper – has been shut down after more than 50 years of practice, amid an investigation into its finances and the use of clients’ funds."

At the risk of imposing on private grief, what became of Murphy?

There was, believe it or not, an earlier Club than the Gang Hut. Joanna's was at the bottom end of St Vincent Street , where they built the BP offices. I remember my Brother's first club nights were there in the very early 80's, maybe even 79. The Zanti Misfits played at the first night supported by a band called Free Huts.
The building was actually a theatre or ballroom IIRC. Someone here will know which one.[/quote[
IIRC, twas the Albert Ballroom and Joanna's was downstairs. I am away back to the early 70's here so MAY have misremembered this. I did think it was Bath St. however.[/qu

It was Bath st ,as you say Albert ballroom upstairs Joannas downstairs ,used to go there :Joannas: on a Sunday night around 1970/1972,dont think you could buy booze on Sundays ,so we would go to the Royal hotel on Sauchiehall st get a few shandies and head up to Joannas, the last song they played every Sunday was Joanna by Scott walker ,also saw Salvation in The Albert ,remember them?wonder what happened to the lead singer ,,,

Unfortunately Salvation don't appear to be included in my favourite source of reference probably not po faced enough for Tommy But Rockin' Scots pointed me in the direction of Kevin McGinlay and he is till playing as part of Atlantic Avenue.

He may or may not be in this photograph.
