Murdo MacLeod scores a MacNificent 283. But see today's (Monday) Daily Express for the top ranking 284 name.

I missed that yesterday .. and it's not in the online archive either.

What was the ultimate in Scottish nomenclature then?

Doorstop!

Well, since you were good enough to ask, here it is. Although I have to say I'm surprised nobody guessed it. It was of course the bloodcurdlingly, lipsmackingly, supercaley-donianly, commonplace, kicking-oneself-for-not-getting-it ...

Angusina MacEachen

closely followed by Murdina MacCorquodale and Murdo MacRitchie who equalled the (unlikely named) Murdo Macleod with 283. I mean c'mon, whoever heard of a Murdo MacLeod!

I think the last person to be manacled to the handle "Angusina" probably died in 1822. :D

You haven't ever been to the Western Isles then? Archibaldina is not unheard of. Or {archaic male name of your choice}-ina, really.
