When I was at Braehead last week (which comes under Renfrew I believe), I heard a big horn and turned to see a big grey ship sailing past a big building. It reminded one (me) that the Clyde was once a busy place. The streets of Glasgow lead to the Clyde but I don't feel any connection to it.

That would have been the Lyme Bay heading from Govan for sea trials.

Does any one know the name of this burned out pub at the Yoker side of the Renfrew ferry. I was there taking pics the other week and have been trying to find out.

It was known as Wholbirns Wharf or latterly just the Wharf.

The original sandstone building was built in the late 1800s as a ferrymans cottage - i have posted pics of it through the years here

Drive past every morning on route to work, its title gives no clues as to what it does...

My Father worked at India Tyres in Inchinnan during the 60's and 70's so i am guessing that this may be part of the building or something to do with the tyre factory. Maybe someone else can clarify this?

I also drank in that pub when it was called the Wharf mid 90,s they used to sponsor our football team and was run by a guy called Bert. It was a bit more expensive than other pubs about ther area and tried to get the trendier customer.

It seems the majority of the india tires site is now rolls royce.

Graham tech now occupies the building of india of inchinnan, no info on who they are mind... ::):
