I have a can't-quite-get-rid-of-it nag that this is between Cambuslang and Newton, but the bridge on the left says no, I think.

Have to admit it has me stumped  I initially thought it was around Bishopbriggs or possibly Cumbernauld, but Livelocal shows nothing that looks like the scene. The locomotive is a class 47 hauling Mk11a stock which would suggest a Glasgow-Aberdeen or Inverness service, definately not West Highland. No OHLE ruling out most other routes.
Will keep trying

I was going to say the Cumbernauld line - the sheds on the right may now be gone? :?

I don't know why because I haven't been down that way for 20+ years but something reminds me of the Dumfries line south of Kilmarnock. I seem to recall sheds to the west of the line and also a military style flat roofed building at the south end of the site. Probably total pish but..........

Hey There! :D

I think that this may be on the Cumbernauld Line, the Warehouses I believe if I'm correct have been demolished and houses built on the site.

I believe that it is being viewed looking towards Glasgow, the Bridge is in the frame down at the bottom Left and the footpath has the same general shape as in the pic. I could be wrong though.

Indeed I concur. The footbridge goes over to Glencryan school, and those warehouses was where Empire Stores catalogue was, across the road from Cumbernauld fire station.
