Lovely turn of phrase there.

I've come over all funny like the two old G12 guys in 'Chewin' The Fat'.

Having been away from Glasgow for many years I'm afraid I can't match pollokboy's accent but I do share his sentiments. It would be great to see some old pictures of North Pollok, in particular Dormanside/Linthaugh. I know there are some pics in Virtual Mitchell but they are of white pristine newly built houses and are not particularly reminiscent of the dreach, grey, damp buildings I grew up in the shadow of in the 1960s.

Sorry I have been away for a month and missed this one pollokboy. Your picture doesn't appear on the screen.

I will try and ger some from the local housing office and post them up. Darvel Street is no more. It was replaced as a street name when Rosehill Housing Co-op built new houses and replaced the it with two new streets. One being McCloy Gardens the other Newtyle (Close). I have some photos of the dedication ceremony conducted by the then Lord Provost Liz Cameron in 2003.

Mighty fine 'keeper though he was, I'd've thought John Grieg and Sandy Jardine would've had streets named after them first...

Tommy

The street was named after the Late Rose McCloy, who was a councillor for the area.
