haha, from frequent experience the #38 night bus seems luxurious in comparison. and that route can be... interesting at times (i had a white knuckle ride on there on friday at about 10am!)

what are all the sounds of what sounds like cutlery being put in drawers? 8O

The "Evil Knievel" character sounds familiar doesn't he ? ::):

What a great advert for bus travel, perhaps the anti car crowd should be reading it.

The 62, the Bams bus.

I could get if once I leave the gym in finnieston, but this is reason I get the 42 and a 10 mins walk home or the 11 'if' it deigns to show after 7pm.

Another reason I HATE those coach buses, sometimes you have no control where you have to sit, they have so few seats on them! Sometimes your facing into the fudds. At least with the double deckers, you could sit away or down stairs with minimal aggro.

Was one of the 'hardmen' toward the end having a go at one of the 'lassies'

Yeah the 'speccy' hardman was threatening one of the girls, him and his mates followed the girl and her boyfriend off the bus. I suspect there may have been a fight at the bus stop.

I have a recording i made in the no.40 bus at 1am a few months back as well but its not as eventful.

Not read it all yet but that seems a great site! Surprisingly well-written for a bus driver to.

If the night buses are THAT BAD, then why is the author of Bloodbus still working as a bus driver?

Because he needs material for his blog of course!

His hero is Brian Souter. I loved the company so much I got a job as a bus driver and bought it.

Speccy hardmen are my night mare. Despite wearing glasses from the age of 12 i shared my mates' belief that speccies were saft. Now that wearing specs does not draw the same opprobrium i'll pick the on the four eyes and be taught a lesson.

then again maybe I'm thinking he must be hard if he can order his henchmen about whilst wearing a pair of specs.

Okay you got me - it's based on a stereotype and you could say even very condescending of me. But this guy can obviously write very well (much better than I could) and sounds as if he's well educated. It's just not what I expected from my experience of bus drivers. He doesn't sound like he's one of those guys who loves his job either so you wonder why he sticks to it if he has other options?

I think you're thinking of the razor bloke. Brian Souter, I think, founded the company from scratch with his dad's redundancy money.

One of those interestingly hypocritical Christians. As http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Souter quotes him as saying :
"Ethics are not irrelevant, but some are incompatible with what we have to do, because capitalism is based on greed"

Or, in other words, Thou Shalt Not but I Shalt because I'm doing it in The Lord's name.
