Why didn't the GCC traffic dept know right away ? Surely it's something they keep a list of, for maintenance purposes.

Although the crossing question is interesting, how does it get classed under the heading of 'Freedom of Information'?

Surely the real question here is why it was accepted/allowed to be asked under this legislation. Crossings aren't secret, hidden or restricted in who can enquire as to their location, and the records are presumably not subject any restrictions.

The enquiry is trivial, and the sort of thing that will lead to charges being levied, and restrictions possibly being placed on FOI enquiries in future as councils waste money in replying.

Unless the person making the enquiry originally was refused the info for some reason, this, and similar trivial or frivolous requests, are potentially harming the act.

Charges and restrictions are already being tabled, as you might have seen on the news in the past few days.

There are 2 raised zebra crossings within a few hundred yards of each other on Shawbridge Street. Both crossings are not shown on Google Earth.

These crossings scare the life out of me as I once wrote a car off at one! But thats another story.

Thr council have for some time been considering the removal of the Lollipop men and women from controlled crossings which would mean only Zebra and other umarked crossings would be patrolled.

Now that land services run the service police are not used a substitutes when they're ill. Parking attendants are brought in. If they're doing work which is not generating income or keeping the roads clears as they would have it it is a greater loss to the council.

Maybe even the country's, unless someone knows better
