Maryhill Road - Wednesday 4th Oct 06

Postby loafy » Thu Oct 05, 2006 9:14 am

Anyone know wot was happening last nite around 10pmish?

Was heading along maryhill road and just after the police station before the mini tunnel there seemed to be large crowds of various ages (not any neds) wearing red scarfs and such like all walkin along the road, easily must have seen about 100 to 150 people in groups.

Rather strange,

Probably a few busloads of folk who had been at Parkhead for the Celtic v Liverpool legends match.

They were Clydebank Junior Football fans going to Lochburn Park, home of Maryhill Juniors, to see a Final between Pollok and Clydebank. Attendance was 1254, not bad for a Junior game.

Usually the Junior League Cup Final is played at Firhill, Fir Park or maybe Love St depending on the finalists.

This season the SJFA decided to move the game to Maryhill for more atmosphere and it seems to have worked. Apparently the atmosphere was great with that size of crowd in Lochburn Park.

It was the Maryhill Communist Party staging yet another illegal rally. You can't walk down Maryhill Road these days without some school kid handing you a leaflet about Karl Marx. Bring back the Rubiks Cube!
