Onny, if you'd bothered to click on the link I posted you would have seen it was the evaluation report on Glasgow's Bid which gives a detailed summary of the key points of the financial model used in the bid.

Gap, nice find ::): like this bit too
The Nigerian capital Abuja, Glasgow's rival for the 2014 Games, unveiled its mascot last week. The city is pinning its hopes on 'Pipey', a six foot stretch of the Nigerian State Oil Corporation pipeline.

It isn't too late you can still back the bid. I hope we win on Friday and hope everyone gets behind this if we do. Why shouldn't Glasgow host these games? We have a great sporting tradition and we have a lot to offer.

I'm with Joan sometimes it take an event like this to bring other events and investment to the city. The fact that people still talk about Manchester illustrates the benefits that can come after such an event. In the Short term there is the amount of money that will be generated by the event and spent on the local economy. We may have the opportunity to showcase Glasgow to the wider world and dispel some of the myths that are associated with the city.

:) i was in Manchester for games & i dont talk about it much, my kids went to school right next to stadium & daughter was in opening ceremony  When you find out prices for tickets to go to games then tell how good it is for Glasgow. Most of local people wont be able to afford to go except for open rounds

Of course, Glasgow is already enjoying significant and positive international exposure even just as a result of the bid being submitted. The bid subission process, and the Games if/when Glasgow wins them are all consistant and supportive of Glasgow's steadily re-building profile as a national and international venue for business, lieisure and other cultural events. The bid has not been just a manic, one-off idea jsut pulled out of the hat. On merit, it deserves to suceed. I still think the only real danger is that Nigeria might get it on the 'we have never had a Games in Africa' basis.

Isn't Oedipus Eck, leader of the parish council, planning to do away with the Council Tax or is that just another pie supper in the sky like the 1000 more polis and the extra primary teachers?

2014 seems such a long way away but I suppose the time will fly past. Nice to see a positive Glasgow story on the news too.
