You get more in-depth political analysis in the Beano than the feckin Evening Times.

As for casinos - all I can say is Image

I love the casino.
Good mix of folk etc, you don’t need to gamble and sometime a great meal can be had

Looking forward to the big one. 8)

Do we need a big one? What is the level of patronage at the others? I've never been in one and honestly don't fancy it.

I see we have the "it'll bring jobs" guilt trip again.

i went to the one on clyde street a few years back and quite enjoyed it. found i was less pished than i would have been on a regular night out, and managed to break even after being an incredible £8 up at one point. it was really nice inside, staff were far more pleasant than most boozers and it was very relaxed.

I don't really care about the casino much, I will never be in it and if other people want to throw their money away that's up to them but please, give it a break with the 'jobs and prosperity' bullshit.

They'll be fleets of security vans driving Glaswegian money out past the city limits every night, headed for the Channel Island or some such place!

Oh and I'm sure no one on Glasgow council is being 'recognised' for their help in promoting the idea

Boycott?? :D Doesnt seem like anyone actually admits to reading this paper anyways.

As for not buyin the thing. The price of the newprint ,labour and production and editorial costs dont really break even with the cover price. The vast majority of tabloid revenue comes from adverts
The fact that people are clickin on their website means theyre still raisng their profile and buyin into their brand etc.

As for the Casinos... BRING IT ON!!!
Ye need somewhere to go when the bookies shuts at 8pm

The press is "newspeak" at the best of times. As far as the casino
is concerned, it's up to the individual who wants to attend. Not my
idea of fun, but whatever floats yer boat.

Course ..nasty tabloid journos speak with forked tongues etc.
But they dont court political votes. They've all got an agenda due to political allegencies but Id say its mostly transparent as most people know not to buy certain newspapers if you lean to the right/left.

Can't believe their article on Monklands hospital last night!

For those who don't follow these things, the debate on Monklands was on an SNP motion which read:
"That the Parliament does not accept the case put forward for the downgrading of the accident and emergency unit at Monklands Hospital and calls on the Scottish Executive to re-examine its decision to approve this downgrading."

Karen Whitefield MSP, who also opposes the closure of the A&E at Monklands against the policy of her Labour colleagues, called the SNP a bunch of opportunists and ambulance chasers, and abstained from voting for the SNP motion! Rebel my ass!

She wants the same thing as the SNP in this case, but can't bring herself to vote with them on such an important issue. And the ET paints her as a hero and doesn't give any credit to the SNP for bringing it to Parliament in the first place!!!

Minutes of the Parliament are >here< for those who are interested!
