Life may well be too short, stereotype will just have to make the best of what he has.

Hi, I'm Sam.

I've been living in Glasgow for just under a year now. I moved here last Septmeber to come to the Art School. I'm currently studying FA Photography and have spent many a late evening walking around the backstreets of Glasgow hunting derelict buildings.

All the usual crap applies. Music, film, books, socialising etc. I look forward to settling in, I have a feeling I'm missing out on a big part of Glasgow.

Hello.
I am a lady.
Currently work in the Cooncil's Cultural and Leezhure services. Was in museums for a wee bit and before that multifarious 'careers' including the Theatre. Interested in many, many things (easily distracted) . I like old stuff and suffer from a nostalgia for times long gone which I never actually experienced. Originally from Paisley.
Look forward to meeting some of you splendid people.

hello from a Newbie

Postby MsStormwalker » Fri Aug 19, 2005 4:46 pm

Hello! I've just stumbled across this site and have been browsing for a day or so. You look like a very interesting bunch.

My main interests are art, photography, history, punk and early cinema: in fact, all good things!

I'm moving back to Glasgow in a few weeks to live with my parents (what fun :D ) while I do my MSc. I've been in Edinburgh and Fife for 7 years and haven't lived in Glasgow since I was a teenager so I'm looking forward to exploring (getting lost)/ getting to know the city again.

God, I've just realised I haven't introduced myself. How rude. Must be because I'm of French stock. I've been living in Glasgow for almost 2 years, earn a living through translation, am interested in anything from Klezmer music to The Tiger Lillies, Glasgow to Sarajevo, Rab C Nesbitt to Pasolini, "Lanark" to "Trainspotting", drinking to not drinking, walking in Glasgow nooks and crannies to cycling to John O'Groats, taking pictures, I don't know, lots of things including those that just lie out there just waiting to be discovered. By the way, I'm not too sure how I came across this website/forum, but it looks... friendly, interesting, diversified, "local" as in Glasgow-related, so that's a good start.

A la prochaine,

C

French - cool! I'm hoping to start learning French again when I move to Glasgow. Are there lots of French people around?

I really should introduce myself properly now that I've posted a few times and that prompt from MsStormwalker is just right!

I'm from Glasgow, but I've lived in France for 15 years. I'm a smallholder, I live with my French boyfriend and we've built a house, made a lovely garden and we raise Angora goats and sheep on 100 acres.

I come backto Glasgow about once a year to see my mum who lives in Balgrayhill. (Springburn) I usually stay with her for three days, then I need to escape for a while on my own.

I found this site when I was looking for interesting things to do in Glasgow and I'd like to say that the quality of the site is really superbe, the photographs are stunning and the people all seem friendly and as keen as I am to preserve beauty and good buildings.

I take photographs all the time, but they're mostly for the web and not very good quality. Most of them are of our garden, our house, our animals - you can tell I don't get out much !

Here are some links to our projects if anyone's interested:

This is to our cheap to run as possible house:

This is the cabin where we lived before building the house:
