I'm hearing on the radio that Cessnock has been shut because of a fire on Paisley Road West. Anybody got any more info on this? I don't live there anymore so I can't take a walk along to have a look myself.

There were posters at Hillhead & Buchanan St saying Cessnock was closed, use Kinning Park & Ibrox.

Really? Couldn't have been long lived; I came out of Cessnock around 6:30 and didn't notice anything at all...

Obviously not. I heard it on Radio Scotland about 5:30.

I really like those digital signs they have on the subway now, but wish they'd put how long it is until the next train at ground level as well as on the platform. Currently at ground level all it says is "frequency 8 minutes" ... but is the next train in 2 or 8? That's the difference between getting a coffee and a paper or not.

or leaping down the stairs and bumping into other passengers coming off the train you're trying to catch like what happens at Charing Cross..

an 'incident' at Partick Station had both lines suspended for a while this afternoon. Unsure what happened or how long it was off for. I came down into Buchannan Street about 4:15, but I actually only waited about 2 minutes before service was resumed, Partick was kept shut for a further 3-4 minutes. I asked a guy in an SPT hi-vis and he said fire crews had been called to Partick.

Nice start to the Subway festival, eh?? ::):

On a lighter note, if you can bear to buy the rag that is the Sun, you can get a free subway ticket. Nice.

Dexter: People do that anyway, when they hear the train or feel its wind, and they have to run since the drivers don't hang about. I don't think it's much of an argument for forcing people to waste ten minutes on the platform.

What i find with the likes of Charing Cross is that depending on where the exit to the station is, is where most people pile onto the train, probably the same for the subway too, as people dont want to walk the length of a platform to get out the station.

Ive noticed this on the peak hour services, especially at Charing Cross

same at Garrowhill in the mornings, everyone piles on at the front where it's standing room only, very few go to the back of the train where seats are often available. People are morans.

Had been looking forward to seeing some subway festival type things today, but needless to say there was hee haw.

A photoshoot for the papers, a wee interview for the telly, but not a sausage by way of entertainment on the tin tube this morning.

Only a cynic would say it's just a smokescreen to get some good publicity for ye underground following the price hike...
