A couple of friends were into AC/DC and if memory serves they claimed he attended Cranhill Secondary. Don't remember anyone ever saying anything about the Youngs other than Angus was a local.

First photo there is our back garden! The tree in the bucket is an apple tree I grew from seeds from an old apple core! The guy in the photo is our next door neighbour, Mr Munro.

Brings back lots of memories those pics, spent most of my youth in Milncroft rd before moving to the 'Hi-end' much of my mis spent youth was wasted fighting* the Cranhill on that bridge.

*I say fighting, but most of the time it was a game of chases.

I lived in Milncroft Road as well, ruchaziejim, then Cranhill. I lived at no 47 Milncroft Road - the 5 apartments - from 1953 till about 1958/59, when we moved to Crowlin Crescent in Cranhill, and then to 232 Bellrock Street a couple of years later.
I actually went into hospital with Rheumatic Fever when we still lived in Ruchazie, and by the time I got out again, about 3 months later, we had moved to Cranhill.

Of course, both Ruchazie and Cranhill have undergone vast changes since I lived there, but they were good places to live back in the 50s and 60s. I left Cranhill for Dumbarton (Glasgow Overspill) about 1973, and things were already starting to slide downhill even then. Graffitti started appearing on the walls of the closes, for example. I didn't visit Cranhill again until the mid 1990s and the change - for the worse - was unbelievable.

Great pics. My sister used to live in Crowlin then Gantock. I remember queuing up outside that post office for the child benefit on a Monday morning. It was mobbed. You'd see folk selling their milk tokens.

Great photies. It's so strange for me to see that stretch of Bellrock Street without the tenements, though.
When I lived there, the shops I remember in Lamlash were Mr. Steel's, the newsagent (he died a comparatively young man from a heart attack); there was a wee grocer/dairy there next door to the newsagent, owned by a guy called Cook. There was also a Massey's grocers there at one point (one of my sisters worked in it for a while), and I believe it later became a Co-op - or maybe it co-existed with the Co-op, ah cannae remember noo.

There was a Mrs Boyle lives across the road from here in the closes. She lives just above Alex's sister if I remember right. She did a lot of things for the chapel and was a dinner lady at my primary. Same one?

My grandparents on my dads side lived at 10 Bankend Street, Ruchazie and my other grandparents lived in Cumbrae Street, I used to walk over the bridge and down the path between them, could wave to them from either house, no more than a few hundred yards if that.
