Having spoken to the Mitchell it is true that there are problems (many) associated with adding and updating material on the site. However, they are currently beginning to review how this is managed and indeed I believe giving consideration to their digitisation projects. Apparently the process of digitisation isnt the problem its how to provide access to the data following this.

The main problem with the VM is one of protection of images and copyright and how these images are hosted - and of course this isn't helped by the legacy systems they run on.

However, I am quite sure that all comments and criticisms of the current system(s) and processes would be useful when it comes to prodcing a new one.

In what capacity are you writing about digitisation projects?

It's for a uni project. I've offered to give feedback to all the places that I've spoken to. It's just been a few months since I've been to the Mitchell (being based in Edinburgh now) so I was interested to hear about possible HG involvement.
