I'd guess it's some sort of water based poster paint, hence no, or very little, smell.

Probably has a high -E- number content.

Looks like a definite hint of E110 Sunset Yellow with added E102 Tartrazine near the upper floors of that Hi-Rise, the kids will be hyper around there for weeks 8O ::):

My local rag, the erstwhile Rutherglen Reformer, reports that this has been postponed, with no rescheduled date given.

Telly ad flats won’t bite the dust just yet

Jan 11 2007

A BLOCK of Toryglen flats which featured in a spectacular UK-wide Sony TV advert has had its demolition delayed... for a second time.

Contractors had planned to blow up the disused high-rise building in Queen’s Court later this month.

But the plans have been put on a back burner to allow extra preparation time.

It is the second time in a matter of weeks that the demolition has been delayed, as a proposal to blow up the block in December was scrapped as housing chiefs didn't want to disrupt neighbouring tenants in the build-up to Christmas.

The flats were splattered with 70,000 litres of paint in July for Sony’s latest TV and cinema commercial.

Award-winning director Jonathan Glazer shot the advert in the summer. It involved blowing up a huge number of pots of coloured paint 100ft. into the sky as hundreds of intrigued members of the public gathered to watch the amazing display.

The flats, which date from just 1968 and were owned by the Glasgow Housing Association, had been empty since May last year.

Margaret Brittain, community housing manager of Orchard Grove Housing Association, said: "The plans for the demolition of the tower block and the regeneration of the area are coming along well.

“The new year will bring us a new beginning for the area."

It is believed that workmen have already partly-weakened the 22-storey block and the building will be razed in a controlled explosion.

One question, how do you 'partly weaken' a tower block?

Subject it to a sustained period of insults to undermine its confidence?

Tickle it?
Malcolm Tucker is always right.

Damn I was looking forward to that. Does anyone else have any inside information as to what date they are getting blown down?

I noticed the advert was on the other night, but they'd redone it without any music...

According to Aitkenhead Road Police Station the demolition still goes ahead on the 21st January, weather permitting. They've brought extra resources out.

The City Chambers have been talking to them about it at recently as the 18th January.
