My favourite memory of the QMU was seeing Steven Lironi's 'blink and you'll miss them' band Flesh (somewhere about 82-84). As the story at the time went, they had been signed by a major label the week before as a Funky/Disco-y band (of the kind popular in Glasgow at the time), with a couple of very pretty female singers and a couple more as back up vocalists. All the A&R men from the record company were up to see their new signing.
Steven and the other guitarist (Keith Band?) proceeded to turn up by themselves, stripped to the waist with 'Fuck' painted across their chests in red letters, turn on a beatbox and play very loud random chords for twenty minutes. The management turned the lights off after five minutes; they kept on playing. Eventually someone found the appropriate switch and cut their power.
It was great!
