Quick (lousy) snap from a passing buzz.

Don't like that much, it's all too square & angular, and a bit cheap looking :(

I don't particularly care about the path leading to the front door. I care more about what they've done inside. I do think the seating area is a good idea though.

Of course, but obviously they wanted to improve the outside as well, I don't think they've did that.

I passed on the bus tonight, it looks rather barren and featureless.

I must say, the new 'plaza' at the front is a little bit of a missed opportunity. Could do with a nice big fountain or something, or at least some kind of feature, the open space they have at the moment with the benches isn't well enough defined to work properly.

If the council had got themselves in gear, this could have been done in tandem with rethinking George Square, in particular getting rid of half the statues! A couple out at Kelvingrove, or Glasgow Green or somewhere could make the square a much more useful place.

But anyway, I digress.

Whats the opening date for the galleries?

There was a sneaky peeky preview on Channel 4 news this afternoon. I guess they'll repeat it on their 7 o' clock show?

Those 'orrible looking hanging mask things are there to help "draw" visitors up the stairs, they said. They reckoned that out of the million people who visited the museum per year, 80% of them never went up the stairs.

And yes, they showed the Spitfire.

Members of the Friends of Glasgow Museums are getting a 2 hour viewing of Kelvingrove at the beginning of July.
Although I think it's only members who are getting an invite.
