He-he, Postmortem was one of the first films I ever bought on DVD, as it was still years away from turning up in the bargain bins of UK shops at the time. It really is dreadful, the director has a Steadycam fetish, and lights everything with garish, unreal primary colours. The acting is terrible too - apart from Lewis and Anderson, the other leads are an English bloke and a female from Bosnia, both sporting quite the most dreadful Scottish accents this side of Robert Duvall's portrayal of a Scottish football manager in A Shot At Glory.

Technically, the film is terrible too. I lost count of the number of scenes where you could see policemen in the background holding traffic up!

Plenty of familiar locations thought - the police station is in St Vincent Place (one establishing shot outside adds the ding-ding of a tram bell!), the baddie lives in St Vincent St church, Charlie likes to drink in the Toolbooth bar (although the interiors are the Clutha Vaults), there's a chase down Buchanan St where crowds are all assembled to watch filming, ending in Central Station and the final showdown takes place in the Necropolis - Sheen emerges into it from a tomb after a chase through the church, which itself is portrayed as being in Hope St rather than St VIncent St. - geography is most definitely not respected!

I've got loads of screengrabs from it on another computer, I'll stick some up when I get a chance.

Here's some frame grabs from the Glasgow set sections of THE MAGGIE, which I wrote about earlier on this thread.

Ewan McGregor and co-star Eva Green spotted filming scenes for new movie in Glasgow

Sep 22 2009

HOLLYWOOD star Ewan McGregor went for a walk around Glasgow - alongside beautiful Bond girl Eva Green.
The pair, who are in town filming steamy drama The Last Word, were spotted out and about at several locations across the city yesterday.
But many people did not recognise the glamorous pair as they strolled hand-in-hand along the banks of the River Clyde.

I think it may have been a working title. It's called 'Perfect Sense' on IMDb.

Batman and Robroyston: Glasgow to be transformed into Gotham for Hollywood film

Caped crusader to film in Glasgow

Glasgow is to be transformed into Gotham City in the latest Batman film sequel.
Dark Knight Rises, which sees Christian Bale return as the caped crusader, will be filmed in the city, with Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine among the cast.
Director Christopher Nolan will use shots filmed around Glasgow in some of exterior scenes in the final instalment of his Batman trilogy.
Shooting has already begun in London and Croydon and will head north for several scenes early next month.
Nolan, who previously used Chicago to depict Gotham, wanted to use several different locations to create a Gotham nobody would recognise. A source revealed: "He plans to use various cities to provide a mash-up of what Gotham will look like.
"Glasgow was location-scouted for the last film Dark Knight, though in the end it wasn't used. This time, Chris already has several scenes in mind.
"The city centre architecture is hugely impressive. But he will be filming in secret.
"That said, if you see a man in body armour driving a big Batmobile down Sauchiehall Street, it's Batman."

Heavenly Pursuits, as mentioned in various Glasgow-set film threads on here, looks set to be getting a DVD release thanks to Glasgow-based distributors Park Circus - it's listed by the BBFC today as having gone through their website:

What about the movie "Girl in the Picture" shot round Byres Road and Queen Margret Drive. Saw it in London about 20 years ago on the big screen. Made me feel really homesick!

Two with boowaats to do wi:

young adam. Port dundas as some other bits of the forthn and clyde canal. Possibly yorkhill quay for the manslaughter scene. One of peter mullans best performances on screen. Ewan mcgregors bid to getn into soft porn, falters as he chooses the ' older wumin are ma weakess' route. His cadger makes a short appearance.

Ont the documentary sholrt , 'the bowler and the bunnet' narrated by edinbras big tam the milk man. A voice-over talent lost to purile tatt about secret agents and immortal sword combatants.

I've got a b/w print from the Evening Times from around 1970 of Bill Simpson (aka Dr Finlay for all of you youngsters) on the subway dressed and looking rather the worse for wear during the shooting of a film. I can't remember its name mind you

I'm just back home today from a break in Glasgow.

Anyone care to tell me what was being filmed in the Kelvin Drive/Botanic Crescent area in the last week or so.
There is a big house and they were filming for a few days off and on just outside it.

They had a girl setting off on a tandem and there was a wee dog too.
I think some of the film was set in the house and have heard that the property is owned by tv producer?
