Heard the sad news earlier this morning.

Just heard a crowd is gathering at Celtic Park. Scottish Television are there and cameras were running as a Rangers fan tied up a scarf in tribute to a Sottish Legend.

A City united in grief.

I can remember as a wee boy being amazed at the bravery of Jimmy Johnstone against Atletico Madrid in the 1974 European Cup semi final.

They kept hacking him down, but like a wee gallus Glasgow hardman, he got up and ran. He knew he was coming down again but he continued running.

The treatment he got that night was shocking.

Club loyalties really don't matter when something like this happens.

RIP wee Jinky

One of my favourite annecdotes about the wee man was from Billy MacNeil when he said that before they passed the ball to Jimmy they tried to make sure he was facing the opposition goal because they were never sure which way he would set off with it.
Truly one of the greatest entertainers on a football pitch.
RIP wee man and thanks for the memories.

Being too young to have ever seen Jinky play, I wasn't actually sure what he gave to the Scottish and indeed European stage ... but just watching some of the video footage last night you could see in an instant the breathtaking ability he posessed.

His talent and abilities are truly a loss to the game, and it reminds me of the disappointment when Davie Cooper passed away.

They may be gone, but the legacy will remain.

Jinks was kind of player we hated playing against.
I wish Scotland had a few internationalists of his calibre nowadays.
The big man upstairs is getting a fine team together...

I see that Celtic have been given permission for all their players to wear the number 7 on their shorts for Sunday's final as a tribute to the wee man.
